Exercise - Successful weight loss requires regular physical activity
Progress of technology and increased use of transportation made many daily tasks a lot easier but they also made us more more lazy. Try to remember when was the last time you walked the staircase to the second floor when there was an elevator or parked hundred feet from the entrance to the store when free parking space was just at the entrance? Cannot remember? Would you consider purchasing a TV without remote control? No? As you see, physical activity is much more than just aerobics, running, playing tennis, etc.
Diet alone is inadequate to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. Moderately intense activity from 30 to 60 minutes three to four days per week will help to lose excess pounds as well as to maintain optimal weight when achieving it. It does not really matter what type of physical activity you choose but it is highly important that you commit to it regularly. Do not choose running or aerobics if you hate it but something you enjoy in. Perhaps it might be wise to try out different activities to determine which you enjoy the most. If you have a medical condition or you have been inactive for a longer period you should not overstrain yourself with exercise and consult with your health provider.
As already mentioned earlier, physical activity is not just exercise. Your body burns calories every time you move. Getting off one bus stop earlier and walking home or to work, choosing staircase instead of elevator, gardening, housework and every other task which requires body movement will help you to fight against excess pounds as well.
