Fast Weight Loss Diets - Why fast weight loss diets do not work
Overweight is not only a cosmetic concern. It increases the risk of series of diseases and health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. If you are overweight or obese you should not postpone weight loss program any longer to avoid health risks associated with excess weight. However, beware of fast results.
Everyone who starts a weight loss program is eager to achieve a healthy body weight in shortest time possible. Thus fast weight loss diets can be very tempting. Many different fast weight loss diets promise dramatic weight loss in a very short period of time. Unfortunately, many them are impossible to stick with even for a shorter period because they base on severe food restriction, some requiring virtually starvation.
Fast weight loss is not impossible but there is a trick. It is not fat you lose but water and perhaps even lean tissue. For that reason the vast majority of people regain weight after completing a fast weight loss diet. In short, fast weight loss diets do not work in long-term because they do not deal with maintenance of a healthy body weight once achieving it. One of the main problems of fast weight loss diets is also the fact that they do not emphasize the importance of regular exercise which is equally important as dietary changes.
In addition, all fast weight loss diets are considered unhealthy. The majority of health experts recommend diet low in calorie and high in nutrient content, and loss of no more that 1 to 2 pounds a week. That may seem little but a slow rate of weight loss has been proven the most effective and healthiest way of weight loss which must include regular moderate exercise as well.
