Healthy Diet - Importance of permanent change of eating habits

Improper and unhealthy diet often high in calorie content is one of the main causes of overweight which you most likely already know. Low calorie diet is one of the conditions (next to adequate physical activity) for both weight loss and weight control which means that two weeks of a diet extremely low in calories is inadequate for maintenance of a healthy body weight. A diet should provide successful weight loss but it also has to provide maintenance of a healthy body weight when achieving it which means you need to change you diet habits permanently.

There is no ideal diet and like every other greater changes in your life it might be very difficult to change your eating habits permanently. Weight control is a lifelong process which means there is no going back to your old eating habits if you want to maintain a healthy body weight and not to get caught in the vicious circle of weight loss and gain. A diet which enables you both to lose weight and maintain a healthy body weight when achieving it should base on low calorie intake - recommended daily calorie intake for a healthy adult person is about 1,200 calories - but it also has to include foods you like to eat and provide all the necessary nutrients including certain amounts of fats. Permanent change of diet does not mean you must not eat chocolate, chips or a hamburger for the rest of your life as long as you eat foods high in calories in moderate amounts.
