Adequate Physical Activity - Stay physically active when achieving a healthy body weight

Besides permanent change of eating habits, adequate physical activity is also crucial for both healthy weight loss and maintenance of optimal body weight. This means you need to stick with some type of physical activity to long term as well. However, in contrary to diet there is a much greater choice when it comes to physical activity and you can always start something new although it is recommendable to find an exercise which you enjoy and are most likely to stick with to long term as soon as possible.

Diet alone does not provide successful weight loss nor weight control. If you have already reached you goal - achieved a healthy body weight it is highly important to keep in mind that you job is far from over. In order to maintain a healthy body weight you should continue with adequate physical activity. Keep in mind that every body motion is helpful and that you burn 150 calories with an ordinary 30 minutes walk. If you do not feel like running anymore you do not have to but it is highly important you remain active at least for 30 minutes per day most days of the week.

If you are one of those who have difficulties finding 30 minutes of time for exercise make those 30 minutes two times 15 minutes or 3 times 10 minutes. It does not matter if you are physically active for 30 minutes at once or 3 times 10 minutes because the amount of burned calories is at the end the same. You are also highly recommended to take advantage of every opportunity you have to be physically active. Get off the bus one station earlier, walk to the store, take the stairs instead of elevator, etc.
